At the fair

We debated going to the fair, since I was told it's a disappointment for anyone who has been to a mainland state fair.  X doesn't normally like riding the coin operated rides at the mall.  In the end, we went because Bobby wanted fair food and I wanted to ride the carousel with X.

We're glad we did.

As it turns out, X is a fearless ride fanatic.  He begged to go on the airplane as soon as we entered the fair, and I reluctantly agreed, expecting him to freak out and want to get off as soon as the ride started.  I was wrong.  He begged to go back on the airplane!  We ended up riding as many kiddie rides as we could before we ran out of money and had to go to the shows.  X somewhat enjoyed the joust and the sea lion show, though he really wanted to go swimming when he saw the sea lion tank.  He half heartedly sat down and munched some french fries and an elephant ear.  What he really wanted was to go on EVERYTHING.

When he went back to daycare on Monday, his Auntie told us he could not stop talking about riding the airplane, helicopter, and choo choo.  She said his entire face lit up when he talked about it.  We showed him pictures of himself on the rides, which he asked for over and over again.  Finally, we printed the pictures out and put them in a memory box for him.  Now, he can pull them out and look at them any time he wants.

So the fair:  it's disappointingly small and expensive, but so worth it.

Ride the airplane!

Ride the choo choo!

Ride the hadodo!
