X and I went to town (Honolulu) to see the Kamehameha Day parade today. Kamehameha Day is a state holiday honoring King Kamehameha the Great, who united the Hawaiian islands. There was a lot of hula, some marching bands, and the queens of each of the islands. X was often more intent on playing in the sand, especially since there were some lulls in the action. Thus, it was difficult for me to get good pictures.
Summer has begun, and the leeward side is particularly blazing. We were right next to the beach, so I had to keep explaining to X that we could not go to the beach since we had no swimsuits. That generally doesn't stop him, so the conversation usually ended with, "look, horsies!"
